Am a newcomer to researching my family name which apparently originated in St. Keverne (Thomas John CARLYON)or there abouts - what a wonderful lot of information on St.Keverne and how beckoning for me to visit. I do not have a lot of information, but I believe John (Thomas John?)Carlyon married Caroline Dunstan and emigrated to Australia on board the David Malcolm in 1854 or 1855 and that his son was born on board ship. Thank you for affording this opportunity to learn more of St.Keverne. |

Came across the site by accident, but was facinated by the articles by Bernard Rogers. Brought back memories from long ago. My father was Resident Engineer for the installation of mains sewerage in the 1950's and I visited several times when our family came for holidays. In 1961 we moved to Cornwall and I attended Helston Grammar School and was a contemporary and friend of Bernard Rogers' son Ian. Spent a weekend in the farm with Ian in about 1962 or '63. Happy memories! |

Very informative and interesting website - thank you very much. I am researching the Stephens/Stevens family of Churchtown, Landewednack. In particular Nicholas & Grace Stephens who married in Landewednack Church in 1798. Nicholas wasn't born there though and I am trying to find out where he came from. Also interested in their son George Thomas Stevens (1811-)and their grandson Thomas Stevens (1848-1904) who may have worked on the lifeboat. Thomas lived in one of the cottages in Churchtown now known as 'Parnvoose' where they sold cream teas and provided a boat hire service. He and his wife Elizabeth (nee Thomas) had 6 children: Georgina, Eliza, Thomas, James, Annie & Edward. Please contact me if you have any information on any of these characters, or know someone who has, it will be much appreciated. |
